45 - 26

In a clash between East Grinstead Women and the Worthing Warriors, passion and determination surged through both sides in an intense rugby showdown. The game kicked off at a high pace, as G's made a strong statement with their swift and strategic play, exploring the backfield with kicks and forward podding. However, Worthing's resilience couldn't be denied with a strong run down the wing off a scrum that culminated in a try just seven minutes into the game, adding to the pressure with a successful conversion.

Unfazed by the early setback, East Grinstead bounced back. Courtesy of exceptional passes from the backline, Captain Shackel used her pace down the wing, combined with a strong hand off, to score the teams first try of the game. Sian's accurate conversion leveled the scores. Despite the G's resurgence, Worthing's forward pack capitalised on opportunities with relentless determination. Two quick-fire tries, driven by their powerful blind 8 pick-and-go strategy, added to the pressure on G's.

Amidst numerous decisions favoring the opposition, East Grinstead found themselves on the back foot for much of the first half. However, moments of brilliance emerged as Lewis (N) orchestrated a series of kicks in the backfield, supported by Wallis, Forsyth, and Shackel, resulting in a second try for Shackel, effortlessly converted by Lewis (S). As the first half drew to a close, Worthing managed to secure another try, ending the half with a 26-14 lead.

The second half witnessed East Grinstead's unwavering determination to narrow the scoreline. Muggeridge, Sutton, and Carrick combined forces, exhibiting formidable teamwork, putting immense pressure on Worthing's defense. Eventually, a penalty provided an opportunity for Lewis (N) to expertly weave through Worthing's defense, scoring a crucial try. However, challenges persisted for East Grinstead, compounded by Carrick's yellow card, leaving the team with fewer numbers on the field. Worthing drew on this advantage, notching another try, further extending their lead.

Yet, the G's fought back relentlessly. With a powerful scrum, a crash line from Hardisty and Lewis (S)'s exquisite pass, Shackel stormed through the gap created to score herself a hat-trick. As the game reached its climax, East Grinstead continued their valiant effort, but Worthing's resilience prevailed, securing two late tries and concluding the match with a final score of 45-26.

Despite the disappointing result, East Grinstead demonstrated unwavering determination and resilience, eager to come back fighting in their next game.
