East Grinstead Women Slog Through the Mud to Victory
In a display of pure grit and determination, East Grinstead Women took on local rivals Crawley this past weekend. The weather may have been dreary, but the performance from the EG side was anything but. Played on a pitch that quickly transformed into a mud bath, this was a classic forward-dominated battle punctuated by moments of brilliance from the backs.

Despite the heavy muddy conditions making handling a nightmare, East Grinstead’s finishers found their clinical edge. Elodie gave a true standout performance, securing a hat-trick by reading the game perfectly and finding gaps in the Crawley defence. Hayley S showed incredible power and drive to cross the white line twice, proving impossible to bring down in the 22. Emilia capped off a fantastic team effort with a well-earned try, showcasing the depth of EG's attacking threat.

The match was defined by more than just the scoreboard. Several players put in shifts that won't be forgotten anytime soon. In a moment that brought the sidelines to life, Vicki seemed to forget she was a prop. Usually found in the thick of the pack, the forward found herself in space and pinned her ears back for a surging run down the wing, eating up significant yardage and catching the Crawley defence completely off guard. She soared like an eagle.

Jorja was everywhere. Whether it was bone-crunching tackles in open play or tireless effort over the ball in the rucks, her engine didn't stop until the final whistle. Dibs, Millie,and Izzy were phenomenal in defence and support play. The EG set piece was a weapon. The scrums and line outs were first class giving the backs the opportunity to run the ball at Crawley. Naomi’s quick thinking led to numerous "tap and go" sprints, catching Crawley on their heels and gaining massive ground every time.
