Two months without competitive rugby due to floods and frozen pitches saw a rusty team travel to Warlingham for a testing friendly before League matches return in March.
Warlingham were fast out the traps and repeatedly ran through a lacklustre East Grinstead defence, scoring four tries in the first 10 minutes. Credit to East Grinstead whose heads could have dropped – when they were in possession they out-rucked and powered through the Warlingham midfield, only to be let down by poor handling or a missed final pass a number of times. 41-0 to Warlingham at half time.
East Grinstead continued to play hard in the second half and were rewarded with a couple of tries towards the end of the game.
A number of positives and some good lessons to take-away. Any team missing 92 tackles in a match is going to struggle – plenty to work on!
