A total of 148 girls and boys and 137 adults from Sutton & Epsom descended upon the club from around 10.00am, swiftly followed by U12 teams from Pulborough and Crawley who joined us on the day, in place of our own U12s who were unable to participate due to a conflicting Sussex Waterfall fixture. We were also joined by an U9 team from Pulborough, who we happily accommodated, after they got in touch with us to see if they could also participate.

The tourists played a number of games, at each age group, against our fantastic East Grinstead junior squads as well as the other visiting clubs and then joined us for food (and plenty of beverages) before departing just after 2.30pm.

All available pitch space at the club was put to good use and it was a huge relief that the rain held off for most of the day with the sun even putting in an appearance for a while and all participants on the day (home, tourists and visitors alike) had a fun and enjoyable experience and some fantastic rugby was played.

I would like to thank Sutton & Epsom RFC for choosing us to host the return leg of their tour, our dedicated junior coaches, players and parents who gave up more of their Sunday than usual to allow this to happen and Saint Hill Manor who provided overflow parking for the club. We were really pleased to hear that, despite some getting bogged down, all cars – albeit with some assistance - managed to get out of the mud!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Nikki, Rob and the catering staff together with Sarah and the bar staff for all their hard work and also the cleaners who had the joyful task of restoring the club back to normal.

It was a very successful day for the club and Sutton & Epsom have since messaged to say they had a great time. It certainly seems that their visit to us proved to be a perfect end to their tour and we look forward to meeting up with them again in the future.
