Help Us - Help the Kids

On Friday 12 July 2019, the 16th Blue Cube Security Sunshine Sevens Charity Golf Day was held at the exclusive Birch Grove Estate.

The work of the Sunshine Sevens Committee continues as 72 ‘golfers’ had use of the privately owned, Donald Steele designed, Birch Grove Golf Course. With lakes and undulated fairways – the course and the steaming temperatures challenged the most accomplished golfers amongst them, all in aid of raising money for local children’s charities - Step by Step for Autism, Special Families East Grinstead and Wooden Spoon the Rugby Charity.

Cooling down with much needed refreshments and an evening presentation dinner hosted by East Grinstead Rugby Football Club (EGRFC), a lively auction was held.

Garry Gordon, Sunshine Sevens Organiser said “The Golf Day was a fantastic success and we sincerely thank all those who participated and generously donated at the auction. It is hoped that we can exceed last year’s donation to our Charities of £15,000.”

“We would also like to say a very big thank to Birch Grove Estate for again giving us this opportunity to play on their most wonderful course, East Grinstead Rugby Club who always provide the perfect venue and dinner for the occasion and to everyone who every year makes this day so very special, we greatly appreciate the ongoing support and generosity. Help Us - Help the Kids.” Garry added.

Earlier in the year, April 2019, EGRFC hosted the Blue Cube Security 62nd Sunshine Sevens, an event established as the longest running Charity Sevens Tournament in England that still manages to attract the top rugby sides in the South of England to come and play. Planning is already underway to make next years events a wonderful success.

Presentation cheques will be handed to all the supported charities involved at a special Sunshine Seven’s pre-match lunch before the EG 1’s v Lewes game on Saturday 23 November 2019 at EGRFC.
