Today's mark is 4 out of 5 and 110% effort!

On unusually dry and green pitches for this time of the year the EGRFC U11's played at the Crowborough festival which commenced with a respectful & emotional minute silence in honour of an U12 Hastings & Bexhill player tragically killed in a recent road accident.

From a slow start in the first half of the opening match the boys woke up and built momentum with strong defence , creative running and a number of interesting kicks resulting in our opposition needing to score a number of tries in each of the first four matches to make the match equal (new guidelines but I am sure you know what I mean!) . Alas with temperatures dropping, concentration dwindling and fatigue setting in we had a less successful contest in the final match against the hosts which on this occasion meant we needed to score several more tries to make the match equal.

Overall a very good day at the office with some great play, teamwork but most of all lots of smiling faces & fun to boot, special mentions go out to Torran and Connor our festival debutantes both did well and neither looked out of place playing with their more experienced team mates, Henry Mills who appears to have adopted some Michael Flatley techniques in his new 'riverdance' running style, Oscar Morgan who delivered a David versus Goliath performance with his rucking and tackling and finally Ben who put in a massive shift bulldozing the opposition in both attack and defence which in turn deservedly earned him the accolade of coaches player of the week.

A big WELL DONE to all the team especially as they shared the try scoring duties amongst the squad, a thanks as ever to head coach Andy who looked remarkably well following yesterdays Jason Leonard luncheon at the club, all the parents and finally our hosts Crowborough who yet again put on another well organised and attended festival.
