3. Parents, Guardians, Carers and Spectators Code of Conduct

PARENT, GUARDIAN, CARER & SPECTATOR CODE OF CONDUCT

Understand the RFU core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.

Encourage teamwork through supporting an inclusive approach to team selection.

Ensure your feedback to players is focused on the progress they make, how they uphold the core values and how they contribute positively to teamwork.

Respect the fact that the safety of players is paramount.

Respect match officials, coaches and expect that players will do so too.

Respect that the pitch is only for players, match officials and coaches and please give a generous space along the sides of the pitch to enable safe play.

Remember that young people play rugby for their own enjoyment, not that of their parents and coaches.

Allow all players to focus and show discipline at training and during games.

Show sportsmanship through your appreciation of good play by players from every team.

AS A PARENT, GUARDIAN OR CARER YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO

Be familiar with the age grade rules for your player.

Equip your player to succeed by ensuring they have appropriate kit for the weather conditions and enough water and food.

Let coaches know about your child’s availability, any injury or any other concerns as soon as you can in order to support the team.

Recognise that every player is entitled to play in a safe and abuse-free rugby environment. Be aware of the Safeguarding Policy and who the Club’s Safeguarding Officer is.
