FAMOUS FIVE TAKE ON THE ZAMBEZI RIVER IN AID OF THE SUNSHINE SEVENS!

Five adventurous Sunshine Sevens supporters are expecting a rough ride, as they paddle their way along the border with Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, steadily heading for Victoria Falls where they will raft the most tempestuous rapids in the world!

Over 10 days starting on the 10 October 2019, Ken Roser, Tim Hill, Grant Bateman, Mike Brown & Chris Poore are risking their lives by kayaking 100kms down the Zambesi to Victoria Falls in both mokoros (traditional dug out wooden canoes) and inflatable kayaks, avoiding hippos, crocodiles and elephants and the sweltering heat and humidity. Ultimately, the climax comes with the daunting prospect of rafting below the Falls in the notorious Batoka Gorge and all in aid of the Sunshine Sevens!

Ken Roser, Sunshine Sevens Fundraiser said: “We are all hitting the big 50 and feeling that we need to challenge ourselves, so we decided to participate in a kayak adventure down the calm waters of the Zambezi River! To ensure that our efforts are not in vain, we thought it would be a good idea to raise some money for a charity. All of us have a close relationship with the East Grinstead Rugby Club so have decided to support one of the Sunshine Seven's local causes, Step by Step: a school for children with autism. Anything you could contribute will make a huge difference to these wonderful kids.”

Gayle Adam, Head Teacher, Step By Step School said: “Step by Step are in awe of the challenge undertaken by Ken & the team to canoe the Zambezi and honoured they have chosen our school to benefit from their endeavours. We wish them well with the challenge and look forward to hearing all about it and seeing the photos on their return.”

The team of adventurers are self-funding this amazing experience – but we thought we could give them a hand! Any donations would be gratefully received. Help Us - Help the Kids!
