The pitch was heavy for this much anticipated league clash, so it was great to have a good squad and the ability to rotate players for fresh legs.
EG started strongly and enjoyed plenty of early possession. The forwards were dominant at the breakdown & scrum and carried the ball strongly. When the ball went wide, both Tom Skinner and Jake Radcliffe always looked dangerous.
Defensively, this was a superb performance with the organisation & tackling much improved and Haywards Heath struggled to make inroads for much of the game. Ollie Roberts was his usual unpassable self.
Tries came from Olly Jones, George Beet and Jake in the first half. Ollie Adams orchestrated the back line beautifully with Harry Bryant & Ben Beard a constant threat in the midfield. Haywards Heath continued to battle and both teams deserve much credit for the quality of the rugby in tough conditions.
Heath deserved their interception try as a result of constant pressure on our attacks. However, further tried from Harry Bryant, Harry Cocks and a second for Jake sealed a comfortable win and rounded off a strong performance from this ever improving squad.
