A beautiful afternoon for rugby saw an intense encounter between two evenly matched sides.
After the early exchanges, it was clear that the Lewes pack was strong and it would be a tough shift for the EG forwards.
EG scored the first try with Tom Skinner finishing off a good team move and Ollie Adams converting from the touch line. Lewes came back with a converted score and two further tries before the end of the half. In the meantime, Ben Beard had scored a try and Ollie Adams had secured a penalty kick, which meant that the half time score was 17-15 to Lewes.
EG showed tremendous defensive resilience and by raising the tempo of the game, they began to dominate in the wider channels. Dan Harding went over from close range, Ollie Adams scored after Harry Bryant's cheeky chip through and Henry Aronson put the game beyond reach with a great solo effort at the end.
Olly Jones put in a magnificent defensive shift, but all of the forwards worked extremely hard to secure enough ball for our backs to dominate. To score 19 unanswered points in the second half was superb and makes it two from two in the league.
