I always like playing at Eastbourne (My old town) and playing on my old college pitch is a real blast of nostalgia. Said pitch was in amazingly good condition after the reported bog that the 1’s had had to play in the previous week and with a side bouncing with confidence having beaten the big three in the previous three outings, I suspected that Eastbourne were in for a long afternoon. This proved to be the case as, apart from a terrible 20 minute spell where we were more like ‘The Keystone Kops’ than a rugby team, we played relentless attacking rugby from everywhere. With 15 tries, we just missed the century, against a good Eastbourne side sporting some really good players and increased our winning streak to 11.
Scorers on the afternoon were: Oscar with a third of our touchdowns, Radders got four, and one each for Robo, Halligey, De La Haye, Marriott senior, Brooke and Gray.
Plenty of great moments, but my proudest memory will be Joey, playing outside centre like a boss, for the final quarter! Huge thanks to Eastbourne who kept going and scored a couple of cracking tries in the second half and were great hosts all afternoon. Couple of weeks off now until we face local rivals Crowborough who are on a roll at the moment.
