SENIOR RUGBY
What a weekend it was as our 1XV faced Dover in the Papa John’s Cup. Would the coach journey bring back memories of Wensleydale last season? Read here to find out: Match report

On Sunday our Women hosted Crawley in their penultimate game of the season. A couple of weeks ago, a series of unfortunate and disappointing events had led to this team being at the bottom of their league. The last few games have been a revelation and wonderful to see as they march up the table! We have been so proud of their determination and grit. Did the winning streak continue? Read about it here: Match report

Next week, our 1’s have a bye in the cup, with either Upminster or Bromley to come in the quarter finals the week after. We are really hoping that this is a home game!!

Hugely disappointing to hear that Midhurst have pulled out of the cup final against our 2’s on Saturday which I think is extraordinary. This does mean that our 2’s have gone unbeaten in the league and cup the whole season!! The social being planned for Saturday will be large!!! Pics to follow next week.

So it is left to our Vets to produce the men’s rugby this Saturday as they travel to a tournament at Haywards Heath. Anyone over 35 fancy a trundle, please message Morgan at: morganrlburger@gmail.com

CELEBRATE WITH OUR LADIES
As I mentioned above, after the season we have had, to have been the only side to have beaten Jersey, and now be battling for third place is an awesome achievement. To celebrate, you are all invited to join with our Ladies and enjoy a BBQ before their last game against Worthing. Please come to HQ for 1pm - See you there.

AGE GROUP RUGBY
Sunday 14th. Spring was in the air and the sun came out to play. The U6’s, 8’s, 9’s and 11’s were all back training at HQ.

Elsewhere, the U7’s and 10’s made the short journey to Crowborough for their minis festival. The day was wonderfully organised and thanks to a dry week the car parking nightmare that was anticipated was averted.

U7s
The G’s fielded 4 U7’s teams who lined up against opposition from Kent and Sussex. Again there was some great running and passing on show from the EG teams with a lot of tries run in. In defence there was some great tags to keep the opposition at bay. It was another great day for the club with the coaches having plenty to be proud of.

Next week the U7’s are at home for their final training session before finishing their 1st season playing competitive matches at Uckfield on the 28th April.

U10s
The 10s fielded 2 sides and had some great games against some tough opponents. Our thanks to Crowborough RFC. A wonderful day at a very friendly and well organised festival.

Next week we have a mix of home training with some sections away at Lewes.

U13 v Crowborough saw a great match, played in a fantastic spirit. Some great work by both teams resulted in a win for EG 40 - 15

Two trys from Freddie Mitchell couldn’t prevent our U16’s losing on the road to Cobham, 39 - 14.

SUNSHINE SEVENS
Just over a week to go before the UK’s oldest 7’s tournament kicks off for the 66th year at Saint Hill.

Make sure Sunday the 28th is in your diarys as players from all over the globe descend on East Grinstead, ready to get going at 11am. Please make every effort to attend and make this the best tournament ever. Just being there helps support amazing local charities, so no excuses!!
