Led by England Rugby International!

East Grinstead Rugby Club (EGRFC) will be hosting a Lions Sports Academy Camp led by a very special guest, International and Harlequins player, Leanne Riley on Friday 3 August 2018 at Saint Hill Road, East Grinstead.

The Lions Sports Academy are well practiced in the art of running sports development camps throughout school holidays. The camp (10.00am-4.00pm) will build confidence and skill's such as passing, catching, running lines, tackling and age grade rules. All set in a positive, fun and safe environment for girls to experience rugby and to develop and show their abilities without competition pressures.

Leanne Riley, England’s International player said: “We are so happy to come and visit EGRFC again and provide training to all abilities and experience levels. It’s open to all girls aged between 8-18 years, we would love to meet you. The Club will be running a BBQ after the training for you and your family so we can talk rugby! We want to build confidence for young girls to get involved in this beautiful, fun game.”

Suzi Funnell, Women’s and Girls Chairwoman of EGRFC said: “It is such an exciting time for the Club and we are so fortunate to have Leanne running this event. What a great opportunity for the girls to meet and train with such an aspiring experienced young international player. Grass roots rugby is the lifeblood of our Club and we are determined to enable as many women and girls as possible to experience and enjoy taking part in rugby union."

There are currently 512 women and girls teams in England and 27,500 existing players. By 2021 England Rugby wants to grow these numbers, engaging 100,000 females in rugby and converting 25,000 of those into new player – almost doubling the current figure.

If you are interested in joining The Lions Sports Academy on the 3 August, please call EGRFC on 01342 322338 or email operations@egrfc.com – the cost including a BBQ for players is £15.00.

The club promotes a close family atmosphere and offers rugby to all children, whatever their ability. EGRFC are encouraging girls to join in their new regular training sessions on a Sunday morning (10.00am-12.00pm), starting on 2 September 2018, open to every age group up to under 18.
