- Jordan Tucker, Fly Half, Side \stepper and Coach

Name - Jordan Tucker

Age - 19

Role - Senior player and hopefully coaching role within the youth sections of the club.

Playing career - I actually began playing rugby at quite a late age of 14, where I took an interest in school rugby and soon found myself joining my first club, West Norfolk (Kings Lynn) where I lived at the time. Soon after joining West Norfolk I achieved my first honours by representing Norfolk County/Eastern Counties which I continued all the way through my youth career. The most of my playing experience came through my college years (16 - 18) where I went to Easton college (Norwich) and represented the rugby academy, competing against top colleges around the country, here I was vice captain of the first XV and captain to our 7s team. Last season was my first year at EGRFC as I had moved back into the area in which I was born and raised, giving a real sense of pride to represent my hometown in the sport I love.

Why do I play - It all sounds very cliché, however Rugby is more than just a game, as much as I love chasing an egg round a field, which is a huge part to why I play, the brotherhood and friendship that comes with it is priceless, I play because the boys around me become like a second family to me, and that feeling is what strives me to be the best that I can be. Oh, and I also love a cheeky side-step, pulling those off is a great feeling also.

Take a look at this great link for creative coaching for kids learning to side step!

Life outside of Rugby/EGRFC - Outside of rugby I am quite the opposite person, I go from being super intense on the field to a fairly laid back guy off the pitch. I work fulltime currently and I'm very keen to start my rugby coaching career path, which is what I see myself doing in 10 years time, so I find myself relating back to rugby even though the given question clearly states "outside of", in all honestly there's not much going on in my life apart from rugby!

Favourite player - Israel Dagg. The All blacks 15 has always been an inspiration to me watching him play, as much as I highly rate him as a player, his charisma on the pitch is something I greatly admire. ...And although he's passed his glory days, Quade Cooper will always be up there for me down to his footwork alone.

Favourite Moment - My own personal favourite moment would have to be my most memorable, playing in my last ever college game and scoring in the final play of the match, all of us boys were like a family so to end an era on such a high was really quite something for me, the bus journey home got quite emotional haha. For an all-time favourite moment, for me It can't me the 2003 world cup as I didn't even know rugby was a thing then. So it has to be seeing Leicester Tigers beat Northampton In the premiership final a few years back.

Advice for new players - First of all rugby is all about Respect, Enjoyment and Teamwork. These three core elements of the game are highly rewarding as they offer so much both on and off the field of play. So my advice would be to have fun, learn the beautiful game and make some new friends, as rugby friends are without a doubt the most fun.
