Parents, coaches, and youngsters love it when senior players help out at training. You can, therefore, imagine how touched I was by the overwhelming support that ten of our senior players provided earlier today. They turned out for a three-hour session running 10am to 1pm in response to the request for assistance to further develop the Juniors and Intermediates Coaches. The numbers of you wanting to help in this vital area of development for the club is evidence for our strong bond and ‘rugby for all’ culture.

Josh Carr, Sam Spriddell, James Mitchell, Tom Halligay, Matthew Robotham, Finn Edwards, Scot Anderson, Rhys Child, Jacob Barry, and Tom Kiernan I am very proud of you all. The fourteen coaches from across all age groups found it very useful to have you there and we are all grateful for your time and effort. It was a great feeling of one club pulling in one direction for the benefit of everyone. Shared knowledge and experience is vital in us moving forward and continuing to develop quality through our juniors. People like you are the future leadership of this club.

Glen Jones (@glenrugby) who is Harlequins and RFU’s Sussex Community Rugby Coach also attended the coaching development session. He was delighted to hear about the club continuing to develop high standards of coaching at EGRFC and praised Rodders initiative later on Twitter “Great morning ‪@RugbyEGRFC coaching for coaches. Well done to all ‪@SussexRDO ‪@SussexRFU ‪@RFU_GameDev ‪#oneclub

"I am very confident that this culture of ‘one club’ runs deep within our seniors and that there are others keen to get involved in coaching directly or helping with demonstrations. Alongside having people helping different age groups week in week out, I also want to have a task squad that can go in and help teams and coaches when specific problems arise eg scrums, backs alignment etc. You know as a player your specific strengths: let me know and you can help aspiring youth develop those skills too."

Onwards!
Rodders, Head Coach EGRFC
