Friday evening was another great night in the club calendar. (press this link to see photos of the fun occassion). Nine senior players were auctioned in front of the wider club community with a buffet and drinks kindly sponsored by the generous Blackwells', Rick and Julie. Their motivation was to help all the members become aquainted as part of our 'Onwards!' campaign. It was a great idea of theirs and a lovely act of kindness and affection for the club as a whole. I can say to the Blackwells with confidence "Mission accomplished!" and a massive thank you to them for their dedication to the new senior squad and all of the club, we really appreciate it.

A good turnout meant that for the first few hours players, members, VP's and our President were able to chat whilst reviewing the prospectus of senior players to be auctioned. Thanks at this stage must also go to; James, Connor, Rhys, Scott, Morgan, Jake, Cookie, Josh (and myself!) for putting themselves forwards.

With our very own president taking over proceedings the action got off to an unfortunate start. Scott, who believed he would fetch the highest price due to his devilish good looks, dedication in the gym and charm, actually achieved the lowest bid of the evening! (Scott, dont worry mate, £100 to the club is still an excellent achievement and you set the bar for everyone to beat!). So from that moment player after player were auctioned off after being built up (and torn apart) by Mr. Poole, as is the president's duty! A particular highlight was the sale of a player (whose identity needs to remain anonymous so let's call him), 'Clarke Kent', was won by Garry Gordon, for a princely sum of £250 or 2.5 Scotts'!

A grand total of £1,762.50 was raised in the auction alone, a great achievement for the club. Preparations are already starting for the next one - if you would like to be included please let us know.

Again, a massive thank you to the caterers-secret ingredient, the bar staff, players and of course the Blackwell family for their generosity.

Onwards!
