2nd XV Captains Appointments

This is a picture of Matt Marriott - don't be mis-led; the person on the right is his eldest son - not Lee Sands. Mr Sands is much shorter than Matt's eldest son.

The Board and Head Coach are delighted announce that following the announcement of the appointment for 1st XV captains we are now going to release the announcement for the appointed captains for the 2nd XV teams for the 2016/17 season.

In May we invited members and players to put themselves forward for roles within our club and while there are still positions to be filled the key roles of team captains have been identified:

2nd XV Captain: Matt Marriott
“I joined EGRFC in 2001 and was instantly accepted as one of the family. The club was playing four senior men’s sides in those days but we all trained and socialised together right across the club. (I remember one season playing and scoring for the firsts, seconds, thirds, fourths and vets). I can’t wait to help get our great club back to those days of unity, friendship and exciting rugby”.

2nd XV Vice-Captain: Lee Sands
“Matt and I have played together for 15 years and have always worked well together. We have a great pool of talent and a great blend of youth and experience, and I am looking forward training together and developing as a squad”.

Coaching – All levels
We would also like to renew our call for coaches for the 2016 and beyond, this is a chance not just for experienced coaches to further develop their skills but also a call for new coaching talent which is key to a sustainable further for EGRFC and developing both minis, junior and senior rugby.
