Passionate defense in second half keeps G's gains from first half!

Crawley RFC

Sunday 7th October 2007

Crawley suffered an administrative problem over the summer and have failed to register fixtures properly for the season. As a result they were, and probably will be all season, conveniently on hand to provide a useful warm up experience for the full 40 minute version of the Midis game.

In the first half East Grinstead were clearly superior with good forwards work despite a couple of key players absent and some impressive back line play which included a giant miss-out pass from fly-half Matthew Dack for right wing Tommy Pool to score.

Half time saw East Grinstead up four tries to nil. In the second half, a little experimentation and a breakdown in the quality of our rucking gave Crawley the opportunity to come back several times but some passionate defence from East Grinstead kept the score down to two tries.

Team Player of the Week award went to Matt Watts who, despite only starting rugby half way through last season, could be heard marshalling the forwards and seen leading by example.
