Brighton and Hove too much for a spirited and enthusiastic G's

Brighton and Hove at East Grinstead

Sunday 14th October 2007

Flushed with enthusiasm from England's RWC Semis win over France the Under11s faced Brighton at East Grinstead. Unfortunately Brighton had seen the England game too and came out far more fired up than East Grinstead. Brighton dominated the first half winning most of the scrums and lineouts and putting together an impressive running game supported by a really excellent display of rucking. Brighton scored three tries to nil.

In the second half East Grinstead's scrum finally came together and allowed us a little of the ball which was put to good use by the backs with some probing runs but no luck in breaking the defence. Rucking was starting to happen but Brighton were better in that department with the result that they put two more tries over before the final whistle. East Grinstead never stopped running and tackling but were well beaten by a better side on the day.

Final score Brighton 5 tries to East Grinstead 0. East Grinstead Team Player of the Week award went to Tommy Andrews for some fantastic commitment in tackling, running and setting up second phase (i.e. laying the ball down for the ruck).
