Day 1 - 50th Sunshine Sevens

Friday 27th April 2007

Junior Schools Tag Tournament

The 50th Sunshine Sevens weekend lived up to its name and was played in glorious sunshine.

The fun started on Friday with a primary school Tag Tournament which was won by St Peters School.

For the primary school year 6 and some year 5 children, their teachers and families that came along, fun was had by all. The weather was brilliant and the rugby played by a lot of the children was better !

The only down side was the number of participating schools, however, in connection with EGRFC, the RFU and the local schools sports co-ordinators, we have already entered the date for the Friday Tag Tournament as the curtain raiser to next years Sunshine Sevens weekend in the schools diaries, and expect to increase to 20 plus schools next time out.

A special thanks to the RFU's Matt Foad and his team for their support and Sackville School's XL group and their teacher Mr. Streeter for the support and assistance on the day.

See if you can spot the President and Chairman of EGRFC. As a clue they are not the ones running around!!
